Northern Rivers Wedding Photographer

Ballina, Lennox Head, Bangalow. A little quieter than Byron, a lot greener, and plenty of spots where you might just get the beach to yourselves at sunset.

I'm a Northern Rivers wedding photographer who lives about an hour up the road on the Gold Coast, so it's an easy trip down for me (and a very pretty drive).

Ballina

Ballina is all about the water. The Richmond River is glassy in the late afternoon, Shelly Beach has those rock pools and a lovely little headland, and Lighthouse Beach gives you big open sand and sky. It's relaxed, it's local, and you can actually find a car park.

Lennox Head

Lennox looks unreal in photos. Pat Morton Lookout for the big ocean views, Seven Mile Beach for barefoot portraits, and Lake Ainsworth if the wind's up and you'd like somewhere a bit more sheltered (that tea-tree water is something else at golden hour).

Bangalow & the hinterland

Think a long table in a paddock, a few too many fairy lights and nobody in any hurry to leave. Bangalow's old A&I Hall, the villages around Newrybar and the farm venues dotted through the hills are made for that slow, country-wedding feel. (There's more on Byron and its hinterland over on my Byron Bay wedding photographer page.)

Kingscliff & Cabarita

The Tweed Coast is a bit of a hidden gem. Cudgen Creek at Kingscliff is crystal clear and perfect for a sunset stroll, and Cabarita has that headland and beach combo that just works. Relaxed beachside venues, salty hair, easy vibes.

Can we do portraits at the beach if our venue is in the hinterland?

Absolutely! Most hinterland venues are only 15–30 minutes from the coast, so if you're keen, we can sneak away for some portraits while your guests get stuck into the canapés. But if you'd rather spend less time away taking photos and more time soaking up the day with your favourite people (I mean, hopefully I'm one of them, but ya know what I mean 😂), the venue itself is usually the best option for portraits.
